Ecodrive x Rebase: Pulling Plastic From the Ocean for Every Ice Bath Booked

Ecodrive x Rebase: Pulling Plastic From the Ocean for Every Ice Bath Booked

This July, every session counts for more than recovery.

Rebase Recovery is one of London's most sought-after wellness studios, offering contrast therapy, ice baths, infrared sauna, cryotherapy, hyperbaric oxygen, breathwork, and more from their Marylebone location. They've built a community around the belief that pushing your body leads to a better version of yourself, and that philosophy extends beyond the studio.

This July, Rebase is taking that commitment further. In their fourth campaign with Ecodrive, they're funding the removal of one plastic bottle's worth of waste from the ocean for every ice bath session booked throughout the month. Every person who steps into the cold does something good for themselves and something good for the planet.

We sat down with Waldo Ramsey, Co-Founder of Rebase, to hear how the partnership came together and what it has meant for their community.

What is Rebase?

"Rebase is a kind of holistic wellness club. We major in contrast therapy, which is alternating between hot and cold environments. We also provide a range of modern cutting-edge recovery treatments and therapies and some older traditional methods such as breathwork, which have been around for ages."

The studio has built a loyal community of people who take their recovery seriously and who want the places they spend their time and money to reflect their values.

Why did you decide to partner with Ecodrive?

The connection between water and ocean health sits at the core of how Rebase thinks about their environmental responsibility.

"We have services that utilise water and a big motivation for us is making sure that that environment for customers is really clean. It's a space that you want to get into. We felt that removing plastic from the ocean was a really good way to reflect this principle and to try and contribute to keeping water and waterways in the world clean as well."

The same water that makes contrast therapy possible is the water their customers are helping to protect.

How has the Ecodrive integration worked for a physical space?

As a brick-and-mortar studio, Rebase operates differently from most Ecodrive partners. The team built a solution that works for them.

"As a brick and mortar space, we're a little bit different from a lot of the online marketplaces that Ecodrive typically works with. However, the team were incredible at setting up a bespoke option that worked for us. We have a dual system where we have some information at our reception where customers are able to learn about the project and donate through a really easy-to-use QR code. And then we also have an integrated system that works with our bookings and makes sure that every ice bath that happens at Rebase during campaigns contributes to cleaning up of the ocean."

What has the response been like?

"There's been a really great response from our customer base. It's something that is so simple for us to do, but it really helps to contribute to that community feeling, that the daily rituals they're doing to support their own health also has a wider benefit. I think that's something that's gone down really well, and people would like to see more."

This July marks their fourth campaign with Ecodrive, a track record that reflects how seriously the studio takes its responsibility to the environment and its community.

The Results

Rebase Recovery has now run four campaigns with Ecodrive, building a consistent record of verified ocean impact. To date, their community has helped pull 6,016 plastic bottles worth of waste from the ocean.

Rebase Recovery is proof that wellness and environmental responsibility go hand in hand. With Ecodrive powering the impact and 4ocean leading the cleanups, every ice bath this July is an act of recovery for the body and for the ocean.
