Ocean Plastic Removal

The Location
📍 Florida, Indonesia, and Guatemala
Plastic and trash pollution is one of the greatest environmental challenges of our time—over 18 billion pounds enter the ocean each year.
Tackling this crisis requires a global, coordinated effort across coastlines, rivers, and vulnerable ecosystems.
Our ocean cleanup operations span key regions where plastic is either accumulating in massive quantities or at risk of entering the ocean from rivers and coastal zones.
- Florida – Crews clean the Intracoastal Waterway and surrounding beaches, canals, estuaries, and mangrove forests along Florida’s east coast and Atlantic shoreline. These mangroves are protected under Florida’s Mangrove Act and are vital to coastal resilience and biodiversity.
- Indonesia – With four bases across Bali and Java, crews focus on rivers and coastlines. River boom systems trap plastic before it reaches the ocean. Active cleanup zones include the Ijo Gading River—Bali’s largest plastic contributor—and the Samblong River, both critical hotspots.
- Guatemala – Teams operate in Puerto Barrios, El Quetzalito, and San Francisco del Mar, working to intercept trash flowing from the 300-mile Rio Motagua into the Caribbean Sea. They also clean accumulation zones in the Gulf of Honduras, where massive amounts of waste converge.
The Problem
Plastic pollution harms marine ecosystems, endangers wildlife, affects coastal communities, and disrupts economies that rely on clean oceans.
From remote beaches to densely populated cities, plastic waste enters waterways through improper disposal, broken infrastructure, and storm runoff.
Once in the ocean, plastic doesn’t biodegrade—it breaks into microplastics, enters the food chain, and damages marine life.
Mangrove forests, coral reefs, and fisheries are especially vulnerable.
For communities that depend on tourism and fishing, the plastic crisis also threatens livelihoods and public health.
The Solution
Your support enables full-time, professional crews to remove plastic and trash directly from oceans, rivers, and coastlines—7 days a week.
This includes:
- Daily ocean and coastal cleanups in high-risk areas
- River boom systems to intercept trash before it reaches the sea
- Mangrove and coral reef protection via hands-on removals
- Local waste management investments in areas with no existing infrastructure
- Education and awareness to build lasting change
Crews are employed full-time with living wages, health insurance, and performance-based incentives—making this both an environmental and economic solution.
What is Ocean Plastic & Trash Removal?
This project goes beyond beach cleanups. It’s a global logistics operation focused on extracting waste from key environments—before and after it enters the ocean.
Plastic is removed from:
- Open waters
- River mouths
- Mangroves
- Estuaries
- Beaches
- Coral reefs
Recovered waste is sorted, processed, and disposed of using the most sustainable methods available, even when that means investing in local infrastructure.
The mission is clear: prevent more plastic from entering the ocean, and remove what’s already there—safely, ethically, and transparently.
The Impact
- Every contribution pulls one full pound of plastic and trash from marine environments
- Crews operate 365 days a year, ensuring continuous progress
- All collections are GreenCircle Certified, with traceable geo-coordinates and audit documentation
- Investments support fair wages, local economies, and waste infrastructure development
You’re not just funding cleanup—you’re building systems that protect the ocean for good.
